An in-game clock is visible in the bottom left hand corner of the screen by pushing the escape button. The day night cycle follows a 6:1 ratio where one hour in real time is six in-game hours. Each melee weapon has its own effectiveness against zombies and the amount of hits it takes to kill one will vary. They will recoil from body shots but you can't kill them with one. Zombies can only be killed by damaging their brain.
